Protect your laptop with Business Travel cover

Posted on August 23, 2008

How easy it is to lose your laptop? Well, latest reach for Dell suggests that the chances are fairly high if you ask someone to keep an eye on it for you when at the airport. A staggering 42% of respondents who lost their laptop had trusted someone to look after it for them.

Overall some 800,000 laptops are lost each year with 900 a week alone going missing at Heathrow. Amsterdam, Paris and London Gatwick are also high up on the list of worst performing airports in Europe and those travelling to the USA should note that some 1200 laptops go astray at Los Angeles Airport every week. The survey found that many travellers fail to take any steps to protect the information contained on their laptops. Nearly 60 per cent of the British admitted that they did not protect confidential information , while more than half said that they did not back up data. One of the quick and easy measures that can be done is put your name and contact number on the outside of the laptop to assist in returning it should it be found again. Do also look at the cover available in your travel insurance policy. Most travel insurance policies do not include computer protection as standard but can be added for a very small premium as an optional extra under the Business Travel Insurance section of the policy.
